Final exam study suggestions:

The final exam will not include questions about material in sections 7.3,7.6,8.1,8.5-8.7,10.5,11.9-11.11. There will not be any trig substitution problems on the final. Looking over past exams and suggest homework problems should give you a variety of questions to study. Also, here are additional questions from the chapter reviews:

Chapter 11 p.552 #2,4,11,19,30,31,35,38,39,41. Also the relevant Check Your Understanding questions on p.555.

Exam 3 covered chapters 9 and 10. Here are some suggested study problems. p.429-430 #1-4,6,-8,10,12,13,15,17,19,20,24. p.470-472 #1-4,6,7,9,12,15,16,19,23,36. The "Check Your Understanding" questions on p.431 and p.473 are also a good review.

Exam 2 covered material from sections 8.2 - 8.7 (except for Consumer and Producer Surplus from 8.5 and Normal Distributions in 8.7). Here are some suggested study problems. p.397-400 #3,5,7,10,15,17-19,21-23,27,28. The "Check Your Understanding" questions on p.401 are also a good review.

To review the material from Exam 1, you might study: 9.339 #3,5,13,14,17,19,28,32 51,52,63,99,112,117,125,129,130,134,137. Also the "Check Your Understanding" questions on p. 342.

Grading Update (4/18/06): As I've explained in class, usually the difficulty of the exams balances out as the semester progresses. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened this semester - each of the three exams so far have been longer than I intended. Therefore, I'm adjusting the scores as follows: I will be adding 3 points to the first exam, 3 to the second, and 10 points to the third exam scores. The actual letter grades will still be based on the percentages listed on the syllabus.

So, for instance, if a student had exam grades of 72, 68, and 65, I would add up 72+3, 68+3, and 65+10 to get 221 and then divide by 300 to get (roughly) 74%. That is, a total exam grade so far of BC. Of course, the quiz grades and final exam will also be added in for the final course grade.

Quiz Schedule
Quizzes will be given on the following Thursdays:
Jan 26, Feb 2, Feb 23, Mar 23, Mar 30, Apr 20, and Apr 27
