College Credit

We are pleased to be able to offer one (1) unit of continuing education and extension credit for participants in our workshop through the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse" (UWL) Computer Science department. This college course option is supervised by workshop co-leader Dr. Tom Gendreau of UWL, and is optional for participants attending the CS4HS workshop at Marquette campus July 29-31, 2013.

Requirements for participants taking the workshop for UWL credit include two out-of-class assignments (submitted via email no later than August 7, 2013):

  1. A 15-20 minute presentation (e.g. Powerpoint slides and presentation notes) aimed at school administrators and school board members advocating for computer science instruction in the high school and explaining the Exploring Computer Science curriculum or the Computer Science Principle curriculum, and
  2. A one week (5 days) lesson plan that incorporates the ideas discussed in the workshop into a course taught by the participant. The lesson plan can use a format familiar to the participant but must include a list of objectives for the week and an example quiz to assess if the students have met the objectives.

Detailed Requirements here.
