Travel and Accommodations

All travel arrangements for the conference are being handled by Kelly at Brookfield Travel here in Milwaukee. Kelly (or her office) can be reached (toll-free) at 1-800-486-0860 or at 1-414-781-0860. Automobile

If you are driving to or at the conference, there are some local travel details on the Conference Site page. This page also includes details about getting from the airport to the hotels and a rough area map.

Hotels

Blocks of rooms at prices ranging from $55 to $92 per night are being held for the conference at hotels close to Marquette. The hotels are withing easy walking distance of the conference site and shuttle buses will be available between the hotels and Cudahy Hall (the conference site). The following two hotels are holding rooms:

The nightly rate for either a single or double room is $92.00.
The Hilton offers alarm clock/radio, Cable TV with ESPN and CNN, pay per view movies, several in building restaurants, indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center, and sauna.

The nightly rate for either a single or double room is $55.00.
The Ramada offers a wake up system, cable TV with Showtime, in-room movies, and a restaurant. Their outdoor swimming pool will not be open at the time of the conference (since the weather might still be chilly).

Travel

We have also made arrangements for Midwest Express and Northwest Airlines to offer a 5% discount to conference participants flying into Milwaukee. If you would like to take advantage of these discounts, please contact Kelly at Brookfield Travel (see phone numbers above).

While the schedule is not completely determined yet, we are planning to begin the conference Sunday afternoon (May 12) about 1:00pm and end by 4:00pm Thursday (May 16).

In addition to direct air service into General Mitchell International Airport, Milwaukee is twenty minutes by commuter flight from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.

General Info

The Milwaukee metropolitan area, home to about one million people, is located on the shores of Lake Michigan about 90 miles north of Chicago. Milwaukee has an excellent public bus system, a downtown riverwalk and shopping center, a symphony orchestra, and numerous museums and tourist attractions. The city is especially proud of its strong ethnic neighborhoods providing a wide range of excellent cuisine.
