Labs 6-9, which are really only 2 different labs, have been posted. One is on association rules. One is to create your own lab. Both are due on Monday, November 24. The calendar has also been updated, and lists 3 of the 4 planned topics.

You can look at last year's midterm. Note that is appears I got into association rules last year by this time, which we haven't gotten to. Also, some of the terminology is from Witten and Frank, which isn't the main text this year. Bring your questions to class on Monday for review.

I've updated the web site calendar, and now have more information about the term project, including a sample proposal outline. Also, directories exist on studsys for each group to use for building their web sites. Go to /home/cstruble/public_html/class/mscs228/fall2003/project and find your corresponding group directory. (You may want to create a soft link to your home directory for easier access.) Please try to create an index.html file for your project, and let me know if there are any problems.

I posted a discussion of the unbiased estimate for the standard deviation contributed by Vasant Marur in our class. Vasant also suggested visiting this link for another introduction.

Also, I made a mistake on calculating the Remainder term in the notes. I've updated the notes to correct things, and I'll clarify in class tomorrow.
