Teacher Education Committee

by John Moyer

The School of Education has revamped its Undergraduate Teacher Education Program.  Significant changes in course offerings, course content, and certification requirements will take effect in Fall, 2001.  EDUC 170 (Practicum:  Elementary Level Mathematics) will no longer be required for prospective elementary teachers.  Intead, a field work component will be incorporated into MATH 030 (Early Mathematic), MATH 031 (Elementary School Mathematics), and MATH 032 (Pre-Algebra and Geometry).  This year, the Teacher Education Committee's main task is the redesign of MATH 030-032 to accommodate objectives, activities and expectations related to the field work component.
