Who should this program appeal to?

Updated May 30, 2008

The program intends to target people with an interest in computational aspects of science and engineering, applied mathematics, and applied statistics. A typical student would have an undergraduate degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering, or natural science with a minor in mathematics and some coursework in software development (e.g., programming in a high-level language like C++, FORTRAN95, MATLAB, or Java). Students would generally enter the program within 5 years after obtaining an undergraduate degree, and thus be approximately 22-28 years old upon entry. As with most mathematics, science, and engineering graduate programs, students will be drawn from an international population. In particular, we expect significant numbers of applicants from Asia but also regularly expect applications from around the US, Canada, Europe and other countries.
