The mission of the Computing program is to prepare IT leaders of tomorrow to be critical thinkers who will have a solid understanding of fundamental concepts and theory, enabling them to continually expand and apply their foundational knowledge to the ever-changing technologies of today and the future. By offering a wide range of courses, flexible structure, and alternative paths of specialization, provide opportunities to individuals with vast backgrounds and goals.
Our Classes
Students may select Computer Science and Computer Engineering courses offered by the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science(MSCS), the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering(EECE), and by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering(CEEN).
Our classes teach you how to use concepts of computer science, especially networking and distributed computing, not only to
build something, but to build something that somebody (i.e., a business) really cares about. One of our measures of quality
of instruction is what you are able to accomplish in your work, perhaps several years after completing our program

Who is it for ?
This degree program is aimed primarily at the prospective career-changing student whose undergraduate education is not necessarily in the area of computing. The curriculum has been designed to allow part-time graduate work for students engaged in full-time employment by continuing to schedule most graduate level courses in the evening. While intended to accomodate these part-time students, the program is entirely suitable for full-time graduate students. Rather than an advanced degree program in computer science, this is primarily a high quality, terminal, professional program, with the primary aim of preparing students to pursue long-term careers in the computing field. Typical job assignments include systems analyst, software engineer, applications analyst, data base designer or administrator, network designer or administrator, programmer, technical support, marketing, systems engineer, and many more.
